# Editing your documents

Which documents you can edit, when edits take effect and what they cost.

Video guide: [How to apply your edits straight away (32 seconds, silent)](https://www.loom.com/embed/2c0a29d89ed64acb828ba0e5b58662cc)

## Which documents can I edit?

Product brief, Audience and Competitors, all three, using the Edit button on the document itself. You can do it during onboarding and at any time afterwards.

The audit and the action plan, on Website optimization or Listing optimization, are not edited. They are re-run instead, and one re-run rebuilds both for 40 credits.

## How many edits do I get?

There is no edit allowance any more and no counter. Saving is free. Each application costs 30 credits, whether you press Apply now or let it go in on its own tonight at midnight in your timezone, and edits to all three documents applied together count as one application.

## When do my edits take effect?

Two steps, and the second one is easy to miss.

Saving stores your text. Nothing regenerates yet and nothing is charged. A banner then appears reading "Changes saved, not applied yet" with an Apply now button next to it.

Pressing Apply now runs the update there and then. If you never press it, the changes go in on their own tonight at midnight in your timezone.

The application costs 30 credits either way. The credits come off when the update starts, whether you pressed Apply now or let the change go in overnight.

While it runs you see "Applying your changes. You can keep working, we'll update your docs in a few minutes", and the Edit button is unavailable until it finishes, reading "Editing will be available in a few minutes."

That lock is meant to last minutes. If "Editing will be available in a few minutes." is still on screen hours later, the run is stuck rather than slow. Tell us here which project it is and we will clear it.

## Can I make it update right away instead of waiting?

Yes. Save your text, then press Apply now in the banner, and confirm with Apply now in the box that opens.

Two things to know before you press it.

1. It costs 30 credits. Saving does not, applying does, and that holds whether you press Apply now or let the change go in overnight.
2. Anything you want to change after that needs another application, and another 30 credits. If you are not done yet, choose "Not yet, keep editing" and come back when you are.

## I want to change things in more than one document. Does that cost me three times as much?

No. Edits to Product brief, Audience and Competitors apply together and count as one application, which is why the banner asks you to finish everything first.

Go through all three documents, save each one, then press Apply now once at the end. That is 30 credits, not 90.

## What changes when I apply, and does my existing content get redone?

Applying rebuilds your audience, competitors, keywords, account health and video prompts from what you wrote. It also refreshes what is in Post settings. Changes you make inside Post settings stay there and do not rewrite your Product brief, Audience or Competitors.

Videos, posts and replies that already exist keep the version they were built with. Everything created after that follows your changes. The document you edited keeps your own wording exactly as you typed it.
