# Formats, people and music

Choosing formats, who appears in your videos, and music on slideshows.

## Can I choose which formats my videos come in, for example fewer slideshows?

Yes. Open Videos in the sidebar, press the gear icon in the top right, and Format mix is the second section of Post settings. It sets what share of your new videos comes in each of four formats:

1. Slideshow: still photos one after another, with a line of text on each. Works for lists, steps and before-and-after.
2. Wall of text: one long block of text over a still or a slow clip. Works for stories, opinions and lessons learned.
3. Green screen: a person in front of a screenshot or an article, reacting to what is on screen. Works for reacting to news, threads and competitor claims.
4. Hook demo videos: a hook in the first two seconds, then the product doing the thing it is good at. Works for showing one feature or one result.

The question mark next to each format shows a short example.

By default each of the four gets 25%. To change that, press the pencil, type a share in percent next to each format and press Save. Any numbers work as long as they add up to 100%, and the Total share counter under them shows where you are. A format set to 0% is not made.

Hook demo videos need a hook video of your own: upload a short clip of a person in Background images and videos and tick Hook video. Until one is uploaded, that share goes to the other formats, so with the default mix the Hook demo quarter is split across the other three.

The mix applies to videos generated from now on. The cards already in your deck keep the format they were built with, and to rebuild them with the new mix, press Regenerate videos in the notice that appears at the top of Post settings after a change. Regenerating costs no swipes and no credits and has its own allowance of 3 per 4-week window.

## Can I choose who appears in my videos?

Yes, for the videos made from now on. In Post settings, open Brand mentions and Creator gender.

Under "Choose who appears in your posts" there are two buttons, Only Men and Only Women. Leave both off to include everyone. The choice applies as soon as you make it, there is no separate save step in that section.

The same section sets how often your business is mentioned, on a scale of Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Often and Always.

A video that already exists in your deck keeps the settings it was built with, and the person on screen in it does not change.

## Why does my slideshow have music on TikTok but not elsewhere? Can I add music to a slideshow?

Slideshows get music only on TikTok, and the track is TikTok's, not ours. When a slideshow publishes to TikTok, we switch on TikTok's option to add recommended music, and TikTok picks a track from its own library, limited to what that account is allowed to use. It is not guaranteed: some slideshows come out with no track. On Instagram, YouTube and Facebook the same slideshow publishes without sound.

There is nothing to set up and nothing to pick before publishing, and you cannot upload your own music. Once the post is live you can open it in the TikTok app and change the track there, which is also the only way to use a trending sound. Nothing in Post settings or at the publishing steps changes this. If you want sound on a slideshow elsewhere, download it from the card and post it yourself.
