Changing your project link, name or icon
Changing the link a project is built on, and its name or icon.
Can I change my project's URL later?#
Yes, yourself, free, once per billing period. Changing the link wipes the project and builds it again from the new link, so read what it does before you confirm.
- Open the Product brief page. The link your project is built on sits at the top, with a pencil next to it.
- Press the pencil. The Change your project link? window lists what the change does and shows the date your next change would be available.
- Tick I understand this resets my project, press Reset and add a new link, and paste the new link on the next step.
The reset is instant, and the project is then built again from the new link the same way as at your first setup. The new link can be a different product altogether.
What the change wipes: everything built for the old link. Product brief, Audience and Competitors are generated again from scratch. Keywords, subreddits, account health and video prompts are rebuilt from the new data. The site audit and action plan run again for the new page, and your current tasks and their progress are cleared. Your catches, the videos waiting in your deck and any app listing or website you added under Growth Audit are removed as well. Connected accounts are disconnected and scheduled posts are canceled, so you connect your accounts again afterwards. Your short links stop working; the window shows how many.
What stays: your plan and credits, and everything you have already published.
How often: once per billing period. On the 2-week plan that is once every 2 weeks, on the 4-week plan once every 4 weeks, and on the 8-week plan twice, once in each 4 weeks. A second change inside the same period is not possible, from your side or ours, so check the new link before you confirm.
While your project is still on the Product brief stage, before Audience exists, there is also Re-run product brief: its Your product link field takes a corrected address and rebuilds the brief, using one of your three brief re-runs.
Editing the address inside the brief text does not change the link. And if the link is right and you only want the other side of your product analysed as well, your app's store listing next to your website or your website next to your listing, you do not need this: add it under Growth Audit in the sidebar for 40 credits. Check that link before you add it, because an added link cannot be changed or removed afterwards.
I pasted a page link but my project shows only the domain. Is that a bug?#
No. That is how a project link is stored, and nothing needs redoing.
A website project is built from the root of the host. Whichever page you paste at setup, site.com/pricing or site.com/blog/post, the path is dropped and the project is created from site.com. The brief and the site audit read the site from that root. A project link shown as a domain without a path is the intended result, not a lost address. Nothing needs re-entering and a brief re-run is not needed for this. Do not use the pencil next to the link on the Product brief page for it either: that moves the project to a different address and resets the project.
Subdomains are kept. app.site.com stays app.site.com and is not folded into site.com. A neighbouring subdomain is a separate project.
App Store and Google Play links are taken as they are. The store page is not trimmed, the project gets the mobile app platform and reads that listing.
One consequence if your site lives on a host you do not own, such as username.github.io/project, raw.githack.com/... or something.notion.site/page: the project is built from that host's root, so the parts of the analysis that read the site, the audit, short links and the SDK, are about a root that is not yours. That is not a fault on our side, and it is not fixed by re-entering the link. The fix is your own domain: put the site on it, then point the project at it with the pencil next to the link on the Product brief page, which you can do once per billing period and which resets the project.
Can I change the icon or the name shown next to my product?#
The icon, no. It is taken from the site your project was built from, and there is no way to upload or change it in HeyCatch.
The name, yes, and it is free. On the Product brief page, press the chip with your project's name, the first one in the header, before the link, and open Rename project. Type the new name in Project name and press Rename project; "Project renamed." confirms it. It uses no credits, and the new name replaces the old one everywhere HeyCatch holds it: the Product brief, Audience, Competitors, the audits and action plan, your Reddit brand keyword, your brand hashtag and the brand profile your videos use. Catches and videos already created keep the old name.
Can I rename a project?#
Yes, yourself, and it is free: the chip with your project's name in the header of the Product brief page opens Rename project. The steps, and what the new name changes, are in "Can I change the icon or the name shown next to my product?".
The product link is separate. You change it yourself at any stage with the pencil next to it at the top of the Product brief page, free and once per billing period, and the change resets the project: see "Can I change my project's URL later?". A second change in the same period is not possible, from your side or ours. While your project is still on the Product brief stage, before Audience exists, Re-run product brief also takes a corrected link.
Can I change my product URL?#
Yes, and you do it yourself: once per billing period, free, with the pencil next to the link at the top of the Product brief page. Changing the link resets the project and builds it again from the new link, which can be a different product. The steps, and what the reset removes, are in "Can I change my project's URL later?".
A second change inside the same billing period is not possible, from your side or ours. A second product at the same time is a second project: add it from the project switcher at the top of the sidebar, under Add new.
