TikTok accounts
A phone number already in use, and TikTok Business Center accounts.
TikTok will not let me finish signup because my phone number is already on my personal account. What can I do?#
This is a TikTok rule rather than a HeyCatch limitation. TikTok states that each phone number, email address and social media account can only be linked to one TikTok account.
- Try signing up with a separate email address instead of a phone number. It has to be an address that is not already linked to another TikTok account, because the same one-account rule applies to email.
- If TikTok still asks for a phone number, you will need a second one, for example a second SIM or an eSIM. The same number cannot serve two accounts.
- If you would rather reuse your existing number, unlink it from your personal account first. In the TikTok app go to Profile, Menu, Settings and privacy, Account, Account Information, Phone number, Unlink phone.
- Unlinking only works if the account keeps another way to log in. TikTok blocks it when the account is linked only to a phone number or only to an email, or when you log in with a password only. So add an email address to your personal account first, turn off phone based two-step verification, then unlink.
- You can keep both accounts on the same device and switch between them from Profile, tap your nickname, Add account.
Deleting the personal account to free the number is not a shortcut. TikTok deactivates a deleted account for 30 days before the number can be reused.
Does HeyCatch support TikTok Organization Accounts created through TikTok Business Center?#
TikTok does not publish a list of account types that can authorize a third party publishing app, so we cannot promise this will work. What TikTok's own documentation does say is encouraging: authorizing third party apps is not among the features it lists as unavailable to Organization Accounts, it states that previously connected apps and services keep working after an account becomes one, and an Organization Account can sign in on tiktok.com in a browser, which is what our connect flow needs.
It is worth trying, in this order.
- In TikTok Business Center open Accounts, TikTok accounts, select the Organization Account and press Get login code to get the username and the one time password.
- In the same browser open tiktok.com, press Log in, choose Use phone or email, then Log in with email or username, and enter the username and the one time code. TikTok supports no other login method for these accounts.
- Confirm the browser session is the Organization Account and not your personal TikTok.
- In HeyCatch go to Settings, Social accounts and start the TikTok connection. Grant every permission the authorization screen asks for, otherwise posting fails.
- If the authorization does not complete, connect a standard TikTok account instead and post from that one.
Two things to know before you commit. Upgrading an existing account to an Organization Account cannot be undone, and Organization Accounts can only use TikTok's Commercial Music Library rather than the general one.
